  • [es-pree de less-ka/-iay] (idiom) A witty remark that occurs to you too late, literally on the way down the stairs. The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations defines esprit de l'escalier as, "An untranslatable phrase, the meaning of which is that one only thinks on one's way downstairs of the smart retort one might have made in the drawing room."

Claire,
Have a great time with Hasia! I love that picture of Dad, he looks so proud to be wearing such an awesome hat! Sometime I should check out that party of theirs, it sounds interesting.
Love,
Alix

Have fun, Claire! And again, the Burns' Night Supper sounds awesome.

I totally laughed out loud looking at these pictures. Of the three, I would be hard pressed to identify the one of the "wee dram."

I'M SO EXCITED FOR THIS PARTY.

Visions of such joy, Claire! Have fun and I can't wait to see a few of your SF photographs.

Hope SF was fun. It's cold as hell here!
